Let the record show: We cannot wait to see Harry Connick Jr. as a full-time judge on American Idol. First, we got this amazing sneak peek in which he restored our faith in this been-there-done-that, don't-care singing competition. And now, he's taking on Mimi herself!

Any man who dares to put Mariah Carey in her place? Yes, please! That is some great TV.

It all began when Carey sat down for an interview on Wednesday with HOT 97 radio. With the champagne flowing, the songtress revealed how she really felt about being a judge on Idol's 12th season. Spoiler Alert: The "Art of Letting Go" singer didn't hold anything back.

"Honestly, I hated it," Carey admitted, "It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan." Oh snap!

Although she didn't fully clarify, it's obvious that the "Satan" Carey was referring to was fellow judge Nicki Minaj. The pair of female judges got into several heated debates during the auditions and the live shows. In May 2013, the rapper even bashed Carey on Twitter, calling her "insecure" and "bitter."

Twitter

Quick to come to Idol's defense, first-time judge and long-time fan, Harry Connick Jr., took to Twitter to address Carey's catty remarks.

The swoon-worthy singer tweeted at the mother-of-two Thursday afternoon writing: "@MariahCarey - Must've been hard to judge in hell. Idol XIII: Welcome to heaven! @JLo @KeithUrban @RyanSeacrest @AmericanIdol #idolXIII" Boom! Mic drop.

Both judges have said their peace, so now it's your turn to weigh in on the clash of the Idol titans! Do you think that Mariah was too blunt in her radio interview? Should Harry have retaliated on Twitter or kept it his remarks to himself? Sing your thoughts in the comments below! And don't miss the season 13 premiere of American Idol Jan. 15.
