For the December issue of Allure magazine, the Olsen twins decided to show off their different personalities with two separate covers.

Mary Kate Olsen poses in a slim-fitting all black outfit while Ashley Olsen opts for the opposite end of the color spectrum in a crisp white oxford shirt. Both twins flaunt perfectly tousled blond bedhead and mildly amused, relaxed expressions—their signature look.

The pair share that despite being a part of the fame game for over two decades, people really don't know them.

"I think people looked at us with the perception of 'Oh, you just have everything. You can do whatever," Mary-Kate says. "[Strangers assumed we] had enough money to just do nothing—or why would we go to college? And it's such an uneducated perspective! You still have to grow within business. You have to take a chance."

Making the leap to fashion was something, that for Ashley, meant leaving the film industry behind.

"I was reading scripts, and ultimately I just said to the people who were representing me, 'I need to do things 100 percent. I don't feel like I can give you 100 percent of my time…There's a lot of compromise in the entertainment industry. I can't sit in this room and audition for this part."

Early this month, Mary-Kate shared she and her sister never really "felt like we were actresses," adding, "We still feel welcome in the [entertainment] industry. But it's not the one we're in."

But while their interests may shift, the sisters' bond is unbreakable. Or as Ashley sums it up: "Beyond words. We both carry the weight of each other."
