Such was the case when the Bruno star proved yet again he's the ultimate prankster, when he tricked just about everyone at the BAFTA LA Jaguar Britannia Awards Saturday evening in Los Angeles.
And it all went down when Cohen headed on stage to accept the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy.
After Judd Apatow introduced a clip package of the actor's films, Salma Hayek walked out with an elderly woman in a wheelchair who was holding a cane.
The woman was supposedly Grace Cullington, the last living actor who had appeared in one of Chaplin's films, City Lights, in 1931.
When the funnyman hit the stage, Cohen walked over to the former actress, took her cane and started dancing around on stage, imitating Chaplin.
Then, tragedy struck.
Cohen broke the cane and fell into the woman, causing her to fall off the stage head first into the audience and on the floor.
Yikes!
At first the audience was shocked, gasping at what they just saw. Then, they realized they were just the latest victims of a good old-fashioned Sacha Baron Cohen joke.
"Grace Cullington is the oldest, sorry, was the oldest," Cohen said after the audience started laughing. "I dedicate my award to her. It's obviously a tragedy, but on the bright side what a great way to go. She'll probably make the Oscars In Memoriam section…Anyway tonight is not about her, it's about me."
