The good news: the old no white after Labor Day rule is done. It doesn't have to be off-white, eggshell or cream. The style gods have decided we can wear pure white all winter long. The bad news: so. many. options!! This past month alone there's been a crowded train of color-void celebs on every red carpet from LA to New York. Luckily, a few have schooled us in the best options among the bunch.

For starters, Jennifer Garner offers the finest white, black tie wear we've seen all season. The Dallas Buyers Club star keeps it feeling fit for the cold, thanks to the thick fabric on this Max Mara column design. The rest of her accessories are elegant and deep-colored making the bright white shine.

From gown-length to T-length, Anna Faris keeps things sexy in a summer mini in her mesh-infused cocktail frock. Again, the heavy fabric keeps this far away from picnic linen territory, but the Mom star's sheer cut-outs bring their own heat to the party. We're just glad those bands across the boobs aren't any thinner...

We've always been iffy on winter shorts, but Zoe Saldana pushes the envelope just far enough in this pair from Longchamp. The Blood Ties actress showcases the difference between pure white and ivory and the benefits of balancing out mini bottoms with a long-sleeved top.

Of course we can't show off three successful styles without pointing out a fail. Case in point, Stacy Keibler. Remember everything we said about white being appropriate all winter long? That doesn't apply to this KaufmanFranco cut-out design. This screams Miami Beach in August, especially with the Dancing With the Stars alum's perma-tan.
