The San Francisco 49ers made some changes to their roster, and have announced today that they cut the 11th-year cornerback, who appeared in three games before hyperextending his knee. According to the NFL team's website, Asomugha signed a one-year contract with the Niners on April 3. He recorded three tackles and two passes defensed during his time with the team.
The 49ers have signed cornerback Eric Wright to take his place.
Off the field, the 32-year-old athlete is gearing up to be a first-time daddy.
Asomugha recently married Scandal actress Kerry Washington in a super-secret ceremony. As first reported by E! News, the 36-year-old star and her beau tied the knot in Blaine County, Idaho, on June 24. The Emmy-nominated actress has remained tight-lipped about their intimate nuptials since then. "I hate keeping secrets; that is the worst thing for me, because I always want to talk about it," the Django Unchained star told reporters on Oct. 2. "I am really private about my personal life."
And on Oct. 30, E! News confirmed that the celeb and Asomugha were expecting their first child. "She had planned to wait longer because the pregnancy is being well hidden on Scandal with her trademark coats, but it will be pretty obvious on Saturday Night Live this Saturday," a source explains. "So she decided to start telling people now."
Neither Washington nor Asomugha have publicly addressed the pregnancy.
