For Jason Aldean, the unthinkable has happened.

The country star's tour bus struck and killed a pedestrian in Knox County, Indiana early Monday morning, local police confirm to E! News.

According to Sheriff Michael Morris, the victim, identified as Albert Kennedy, walked into the middle of the northbound lanes of US 41 when the fatal crash occurred at about 1:30 a.m.

After sustaining massive head and chest injuries, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities noted that investigators believe it was a tragic accident, not suicide.

Aldean, who was on the bus at the time, released a statement to his Facebook page, expressing his condolences to Kennedy's family.

"With a heavy heart, I'm sad to say that a man passed away last night after stepping out in front of my bus in Indiana," said the singer. "In all the years I've been touring and all the miles we've driven, nothing prepares you for something like this to happen. I'm praying for Albert Kennedy's family and friends today and ask that you do the same."

Aldean just performed in New Orleans last Friday night where he made a whopping $575,000 donation to the new Orleans chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation to provide grants for breast cancer screening.
