Prepare to get emotional.

Friday Night Lights fan favorite Minka Kelly returns to the small screen in J.J. Abrams and Fringe's J.H. Wyman's ambitious new Fox drama Almost Human, which is set 30 years in the future in a world where every human cop is paired with an android. Why, you ask?  "Because they are not emotional and they make practical decisions, not like a human would," Kelly explains.

Alas, Kelly does not play an android, so her character Valerie Stahl can't help put let those human emotions guide her cop instincts. In our exclusive preview, Kelly teases the highly anticipated new drama, which debuts Nov. 17, and explains why it's like nothing she's ever seen before...

"The thing that's different about my character in this world is that she still connects emotionally," Kelly preview of Valerie, who works alongside Karl Urban and Michael Ealy's cop-robot duo John and Dorian. "The human connection really is her strength when it comes to getting criminals to tell her the truth and that resonates with me."

And considering her Friday Night Lights pedigree, we're definitely buying what Kelly is selling when she says Almost Human is "unique."

"It's a really fun show. It has everything. There's relationships, there's drama, there's action," she gushes. "I think it's a really unique show. It's a unique world. I haven't seen anything like it before. There's something for everyone."

Almost Human premieres Sunday, Nov. 17 on Fox.
