Joe Manganiello Takes Girlfriend to Mexico to Spend Time With His Family, Calls It "Greatest Vacation"—See the Pics

True Blood star participated in quite a few activities including the release of baby turtles that had just hatched

Talk about a memorable getaway!

Joe Manganiello experienced just that earlier this week when he took girlfriend Bridget Peters down to Mexico for a little fun in the sun with his family.

Of course, fun in the sun is probably an understatement.

After all, in the five days the couple spent with the True Blood star's brother and sister-in-law at Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta, they enjoyed such activities as hiking in the jungle, kayaking to the famous Los Arcos, snorkling, learning how to paddle board, playing football on the beach and taking Mexican cooking lessons from the resort chef.

In one of the biggest highlights of the trip, Manganiello had the opportunity to release some baby turtles.

"He got up that morning and they had just hatched," a source told E! News exclusively.

The local hatcheries there had gathered up the turtle eggs to protect them from the predators, incubated them and brought the eggs down to the beach when they were about to hatch.

"It was perfect," the source added. "He was walking down the beach and the turtles were hatching. He took three of the turtles out of their containers and put them in the sand and watched as they ran to the water."

According to our source, Manganiello told staff at the resort it was "literally the greatest vacation he's ever had."
