Taylor Swift may still be relishing the success of her album Red, but the country crooner already has new music on her mind.
"I think the goal for the next album is to continue to change, and never change in the same way twice," the 23-year-old beauty reportedly said after she was honored for a record the sixth time as songwriter-artist of the year by the Nashville Songwriters Association International. "How do I write these figurative diary entries in ways that I've never written them before and to a sonic backdrop that I've never explored before?"
Swift also confirmed that she has been working on her fifth studio album for the past sixth months and insists this record will be different than the rest.
"I think what I'm noticing about it so far is it's definitely taking a different turn than anything I've done before," the seven-time Grammy winner said.
Despite her immense success, the songwriter is still as humble as ever, and when likened to super star Madonna, Swift politely disagreed.
"I would never see myself that way," she said in an interview when asked if she sees herself as a top pop star in the world. "I see myself as kind of this girl who writes songs in her bedroom."
Fair enough, considering so much of Taylor's success stems from her ability to connect with her fans, penning breakup ballads to which many can relate such as her smash hit "I Knew You Were Trouble," which was famously inspired by ex Harry Styles.
Still, she doesn't take sole credit for her success and praises her "dream collaborators" on Red, Shellback and Max Martin, while admitting that she loves feeling challenged in the studio.
"I'll bring in ideas and they'll take such a different turn than where I thought they were going to go, and that level of unexpected spontaneity is something that really thrills me in the process of making music," she said. "What if we did this? What if we made it weirder? What if we took it darker? I love people who have endless strange and exciting ideas about where music can go."
Can't wait to see how the super star evolves on her next album.
