Reality TV's dimmest duo, Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, are proving extremely savvy at extending their 15 minutes in the spotlight.

The camera-friendly twosome has inked a deal with ABC to make like Sonny and Cher in a one-off TV special called The Nick and Jessica Variety Hour April 11.

(One can only imagine that boffo ratings will turn this special into a weekly event.)

The Newlyweds stars will sing, dance and make funny with a variety of guests, including Jewel, Babyface, Kenny Rogers, Baseball Hall of Famer Johnny Bench, Mr. T, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.

Lachey is scheduled to perform a duet of Stevie Wonder's "For Once in My Life" with Babyface, while Simpson and Jewel will sing "Who Will Save Your Soul."

While Lachey and Simpson both hosted Saturday Night Live recently, clearly the "platamapus" blonde is on a roll at the moment.

Besides putting canned tuna on the pop culture map, she just launched a line of edible beauty products; her rereleased album In This Skin has climbed back up to the second spot on the charts; there's an ABC sitcom in the works; and talk of possible roles in The Dukes of Hazzard, I Dream of Jeannie and Marvel's Mort, the Dead Teenager.

Meanwhile, Nick is busy, uh, moving heavy furniture.
