Jenni Rivera died in a tragic plane crash Dec. 9, 2012, but her oldest daughter says she lost her mom two months before that.

In an interview with Azteca América that aired Tuesday, Oct. 15, 28-year-old Janney "Chiquis" Marin adamantly denied rumors that she had an affair with her stepfather Esteban Loaiza.

"It was a misunderstanding," she said of her reported fallout with her mother, which occurred Oct. 2, 2012. "My world ended on that day."

Jenni filed for divorce from Esteban, a former MLB pitcher who now plays In the Mexican Baseball League, on Oct. 1, but was still legally married at the time of the her death. The singer-actress never spoke publicly about the alleged infidelity, but she reportedly performed "Paloma Negra," with lyrics about a fight and reconciling, just hours before her death and dedicated the song to Chiquis.

"I don't understand how the rumor got started," Jenni's daughter said. "This horrible thing that has caused so much suffering. [My stepdad] has always been very respectful towards me and me with him."

"There were so many people filling her head with things," she lamented. "If there's a problem with someone you should ask them directly, and that's something she didn't do. To this day, my mother, in her heart, thinks I had something with Esteban."
