Now 27, Conrad first found fame in 2004 as a high school senior on MTV's Laguna Beach. Viewers were immediately invested in her on-and-off relationship with fellow surf shop employee Stephen Colletti. "We were so young," Conrad has said of their ill-fated romance. As fans of the show well know, Colletti left Conrad for her high school rival, Kristin Cavallari.
Conrad next dated fellow classmate Jason Wahler, a notorious bad boy. She broke things off after he was caught cheating on her with Jessica Smith, Cavallari's BFF. Not too long after The Hills began airing in 2006, however, Conrad decided to give her ex a second chance. By the end of season one, she passed on a summer internship to stay with Wahler in Malibu. Teen Vogue editrix Lisa Love subsequently dubbed her "The Girl Who Didn't Go to Paris," and the couple broke up over the summer.
Enter Brody Jenner, the charismatic star of Fox's short-lived reality series Princes of Malibu. As Heidi Montag began dating Spencer Pratt, Conrad and Jenner grew closer. "We're attracted to each other, but we don't work," she later told Us Weekly. While her friendship with Montag famously fizzled, she's remained tight with Brody and his partner in crime, Frankie Delgado.
In the spring of 2008, the California native rekindled a romance with minor leaguer Doug Reinhardt. After a few outings, however, Conrad pumped the breaks on their courtship. "[We] dated my senior year of high school," Conrad has said of Reinhardt, who later pursue Stephanie Pratt, Spencer's sister. "He moved back and then it was like, ‘Oh, we'll pick up where we left off'…for a couple of weeks.'"
Things got serious later that year when Conrad began seeing My Boys actor Kyle Howard. Unlike her previous boyfriends, Howard never appeared on The Hills. They called it quits in 2011 after three years of dating. "It can be hard to feel like you have to start from scratch when you have invested so much time with a person, but shortly after my breakup I realized something: I wasn't losing the chance to have love—I was getting the opportunity to do it all over again," Conrad later blogged.
Indeed she did. Set up by mutual pals on Valentine's Day in 2012, the New York Times best-selling author fell head over heels for Tell. Like Conrad, he hailed from Orange County and was no stranger to show business, as he previously played guitar for pop punk band Something Corporate. In October 2013, he popped the question.
"I am very excited to share with you guys that William and I got engaged over the weekend," Conrad wrote on her blog. Sharing a picture of her diamond ring, she added, "I am beyond thrilled!"
