Jada Pinkett Smith recently proved that 12-year-old daughter Willow isn't the only gal in the Pinkett Smith clan to embrace edgy haircuts. 

While making her way through LAX on Monday, the 42-year-old showed off her new, partially shaved 'do. Rocking two braids atop her head, Will Smith's wife gave fans a good look at the boldly buzzed sides of her head.

And the star made sure to coordinate her outfit with her punk-inspired coif, sporting buckled boots, skinny jeans and a plaid shirt that she tied around her waist for a rock star vibe. 

While not as drastic as the completely shaved head that Willow debuted last year, the change is still a drastic one for Pinkett Smith, whose most recent hair transformation saw her rocking an angular mid-length hairstyle with dip-dyed blond tips, which she styled in fuss-free waves, or pin-straight strands.

Pinkett Smith follows in the daring footsteps of stars like Rosario Dawson, Rihanna, Cassie and, of course, Miley Cyrus, who have shaved their strands.

The 'do is also surprisingly versatile, especially when paired with longer hair on top, like Pinkett Smith's. With clever styling, a gal can totally camouflage her buzzed bits.

In fact, in Dawson's case, it was months before anyone noticed she'd shaved her hair. Pinkett Smith, on the other hand, is making sure we notice by tying her hair up and flaunting her hairdresser's handiwork!
