Count on George Clooney to not take himself too seriously.

The Gravity star, who was being honored at the annual USC Shoah Foundation Gala in New York City last night, was captured for posterity cheekily photobombing fellow mega-stars Steven Spielberg and Jerry Seinfeld and the comedian's wife, Jessica.

Clooney even made one of his signature funny faces as he appeared to attempt to block his eyes from the camera flash, stop the picture from being taken or demonstrate the number five. Or, he could have been waving to someone beyond the photographer.

But most likely he was just being silly.

Clooney was on hand to receive the Spielberg-founded foundation's Ambassador for Humanity Award for his global humanitarian efforts in Africa, Haiti and beyond.

Jon Stewart hosted the gala at the American Museum of Natural History.

"George is the best kind of humanitarian," Spielberg said. "He is a humble humanitarian."

After a whirlwind week, Clooney was spotted heading for the airport in New York today after attending the Big Apple premiere of Gravity on Tuesday and doing tons of press for the film ahead of today's theatrical release.

He and costar Sandra Bullock don't seem to be getting tired of each other, but perhaps having known each other for more than 20 years helped with the instant-comfort level.

"I think we're probably the only two that haven't dated in the business," Bullock said on The Tonight Show last week. When Jay Leno asked why on earth not, she explained, ''I think it's probably because we're a little too similar—in all the disturbing ways."

For his part, Clooney blamed the "bro code," telling E! News at the Gravity premiere that Bullock used to date one of his best friends. But "she looks beautiful, doesn't she?" he added.
