Kerry Washington knows who could've persuaded Congress to avoid the impasse that led to a shutdown of a number of government services this week.

Too bad he's not real.

"I don't know what Olivia would do, but I think in Olivia's world Cyrus would have handled it way before she would have to get involved," the Scandal star exclusively told E! News—referring to her Ms. Fix-It character and the president's crafty chief of staff, played by Jeff Perry—at the "She's Making Media: Kerry Washington" panel today at the Paley Center for Media in New York City.

If only, right?

But Washington tells us that she remains a staunch supporter of President Barack Obama, despite all the shade being thrown from all sides about the crisis in Washington, D.C., spurred on by largely partisan opposition to the implementation of so-called Obamacare and the subsequent unwillingness to agree on a federal budget.

"I think our president is doing an extraordinary job and I think its really unfortunate that so many people are without work right now at a time where a lot of people can't afford it," Washington says, "and I wish that Congress can be more cooperative."

The Emmy-nominated actress remained more diplomatic than many of her Hollywood compatriots, some of whom took to Twitter just as the shutdown became reality to bash the powers that be (well, mainly the Republican ones) in the U.S. capital.

Even Britney Spears got in on the action today, tweeting, "Go call the po-lice, Go Call The Gu-vunah! Someone tell Congress to get to #WorkBxxCH."

Now that's a savvy way to push a professional agenda!
