Jennifer Garner has been extremely outspoken in support of the California law meant to deter paparazzi from getting too close to the children of famous folks.

In an Oct. 2 interview with Today, the actress revealed that if the bill didn't pass, she considered leaving the state with her husband Ben Affleck and their three children, Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.

"We had looked at all different things, moving out of California, you know all manners of things," the 41-year-old actress told Today correspondent Jenna Bush Hager. "I think that there's an idea that because our pictures are everywhere that we're complicit in it, when really what happens is they're waiting outside our door every single day. I can't go to the mailbox without getting my picture taken, so I don't."

Garner and Halle Berry testified in August on behalf of Senate Bill 606, which increases the possible punishment for harassing celebrity kids—and clarifies the legal definition of harassment in such cases. The law also makes it easier for a parent or legal guardian to sue a pap for damages over an incidence of harassment. Gov. Jerry Brown signed the bill into law on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

"One hundred percent I give this, this is all about Halle," Garner said. "I have to say that my husband and I, as much as we have wished for this, we truly were resigned to thinking that this was never gonna happen."

Garner is hopeful that now that the law has passed, her kids won't have "really aggressive men, yelling and screaming five feet away from their faces" during their daily lives.

"My kids take karate, for example, and we have our classes at the same time every week," Garner revealed. "So, the guys know when we have karate. And so 20 of them wait there for us every single class. So that's a lot of energy coming at little, little kids."

Garner was recently spotted with her kids at a farmers market in Pacific Palisades, Calif., where the mother of three decided to confront a troublesome shutterbug by taking a pic of the paparazzo with her camera phone.
