Nicki Minaj is thankful for her time on American Idol and admits that she wouldn't trade it for the world.

"It was a great learning experience, honestly," the rapper told Ellen DeGeneres in an interview scheduled to air Friday on Ellen.

"When you joined Idol and I asked you how in the world you were gonna hold that thing down, did I predict it?" Ellen said.  "I told you, I said that was gonna be a hard thing for you to do."

And Ellen is speaking from experience; she was a judge for one season on the singing competition program in 2010.

"You did say that," the 30-year-old answered.  "You said that it was going to be a very difficult job and I laughed you off.  I was like, "Ha ha ha Ellen, you don't know what you are talking about.'"

The hip-hop superstar admits that she hasn't really had a chance to reflect on the experience.

"As soon as Idol was done I did the Billboard Awards and I flew to New York to shoot a movie," Minaj said.  "So I didn't even get to sit back and think what did I just do."

Minaj couldn't help but answer "mhmmm" with a big grin when asked if she had fun.

"What are you laughing at?" Ellen asked.

"I'm not laughing," Minaj said.  "I'm smiling," she added.

Minaj has been outspoken about not returning to Idol and answered Ellen with a simple one-word response.

"No."
