Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro get hitched last weekend; ceremony captured for upcoming MTV reality series

Move over, Trista and Ryan and Nick and Jessica, there's a new, and slightly more lascivious, wedding special in town.

Former Playboy centerfold and Baywatcher Carmen Electra and rocker Dave Navarro said their "I do's" last weekend in Los Angeles, with an MTV camera crew capturing all the nuptial action for their upcoming reality show, 'Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave.

Because MTV got dibs on the wedding, details were scarce. The cable network confirmed it shot the ceremony on Saturday but said there wouldn't be any further comment until the wedding special airs in January.

"MTV has been given an unprecedented look into the personal and professional lives of Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro to reveal the behind-the-scenes process of putting on a wedding that might prove to be the most talked about event of the year," said Brian Graden, president of entertainment for MTV and VH1, in a statement.

"Our audience continues to look to MTV to provide increased access and deeper connections to celebrities, and we're thrilled to provide them with an inside look at the planning and making of Carmen and Dave's wedding."

The series will follow the titillating twosome in the days leading up to their wedding, giving viewers a fly-on-the-wall perspective of various nuptial preparations.

Included on the to-be-seen list: floral arrangement selection, guest list culling, wedding-vow composition and bachelor and bachelorette-party debauchery.

The series will culminate with the footage of the big day itself, which, according to reports, included such lucky guests as MTV's camera-ready Osbourne clan and members of Navarro's band, Jane's Addiction.

The couple, engaged since 2001, reportedly dined on sushi following the formalities, which took place at the St. Regis Hotel.

It was the second marriage for both halves.

Electra's first notorious wedding was a quickie number in Las Vegas. She married eccentric NBA star Dennis Rodman. The pair split almost as quickly--just six months later.

Her other high-profile romances included flings with B-Real of Cypress Hill, Fred Durst and Prince--who inspired the former Tara Leigh Patrick to change her name to Carmen simply by telling her that she looked like a "Carmen." (The Electra part was chosen in honor of the mythological Greek babe.)

Navarro has a somewhat more shrouded romantic past. The former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist wed his first bride in a pagan ceremony that apparently didn't take--the duo later went their separate ways.

After Navarro and Electra met on a blind date in 2001, both reportedly knew it was true love. Navarro has said of their meeting, "The moment she walked into the restaurant, I thought, I'm a dead man, it's over. I'm done." They were engaged only months later.

The newest newlyweds are keeping themselves busy outside of their MTV gig. Electra has been seen shaking her goodies onstage as part of the sexy dance revue the Pussycat Dolls, while Navarro has been touring in Europe in support of Jane's Addiction's reunion effort, Strays.

The pair also both appeared in cameo roles in 2003's Uptown Girls, which starred Brittany Murphy.

Next on Electra's slate is a role in the upcoming remake of TV classic Starsky & Hutch with Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Snoop Dogg. Electra also has a part in Searching for Bobby DeNiro, an action-comedy due in theaters in 2004.

It will be interesting to see if MTV can sustain another "Just Married" series following the runaway success of Newlyweds; however, this one comes with at least one notable difference--we seriously doubt Carmen and Dave waited for the honeymoon to do the deed.
