Michael Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones may still be wearing their wedding rings, but the couple won't be ringing in their joint birthdays together.

Born 25 years apart, the pair both celebrated their birthdays today—Michael's 69th and Catherine's 44th—although they choose to spend the day separately, across the globe from one another, less than a month after a rep for the actress said the twosome is "taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage."

CZJ is believed to still be in China, where she made her first public appearance since news broke of the couple's separation, looking effortlessly chic in an orange and white Dennis Basso design. Meanwhile, her husband is believed to be still in L.A. following his Emmy win on Sunday night, where he took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a TV Miniseries or Movie for his portrayal of Liberace in the HBO film Behind the Candelabra.

During his acceptance speech, Douglas, who was wearing his wedding ring, thanked his "wife, Catherine, for her support."

Following news of the pair's separation, the Academy Award winning actor insisted to reporters that there's no "crisis" in his marriage while attending the premiere of his HBO flick in Berlin earlier this month.

"I have a crisis at home?" the actor is quoted by USA Today as saying. "No, I think the press has a crisis. We are fine. My wife and I are fine."

He added that it is a "temporary separation," before noting, "But the press, it gives you stuff to write about."
