Simon Cowell is preparing for one of the biggest changes in his life: becoming a father.

The soon-to-be dad chatted with Ryan Seacrest Tuesday morning about his "traumatic summer" and what he and girlfriend Lauren Silverman are planning for the future.

And one thing is certain for the 36-year-old brunette beauty, she won't be raising Simon's son alone.

"I wouldn't expect Lauren to be a single mother," the Brit music mogul said during the radio interview.

Hmmm...so does that mean that we will see him tying the knot sometime soon? Well, perhaps, but only time will tell.

The X Factor mentor has also decided that he will not be present for his first child's birth.

"Are you out of your mind? There are certain things you shouldn't see and that is one of them," he added.

Simon's squeamish! Who knew?!

Either way, the 53-year-old is excited about the new chapter he's about to embark on in his life.

"I am happy at the moment actually. It's kind of an unusual feeling," he explained. "Overall, everything is fine."

Simon did admit however that fatherhood wasn't something he had ever thought "was going to happen."

"Partly because I was scared of who I was going to have kids with…[but] Lauren and I get along really well and once I got used to the idea I thought, ‘I think this is going to be very good.'"

So will baby Cowell be born a Brit or in the States?

"Obviously, I would have to make sure the baby has an English accent," he joked.

"I said to Lauren, 'What if I just play me on tape while the baby is sleeping so the baby can hear me and have a British accent and his first words will be, 'You're absolutely useless!'"
