Jane Fonda continues to amaze.
The 75-year-old Hollywood legend told me last night she's a fan of—get ready for it—Dumber and Dumber.
"Majorly!" Fonda said at the HBO's Emmys party. "I love Jeff and I love Jim, too!"
That would be Jim Carrey and Fonda's The Newsroom costar (and newly-minted Emmy winner) Jeff Daniels. The two star in the 1994 cult comedy as two sweet but completely brainless pals who make a cross-country trip to return a briefcase of money that they found to its rightful owner.
And Fonda may be the first in line to buy tickets to the comedy's upcoming sequel.
"He's making Dumb and Dumber To in Atlanta with Jim, which I'm very happy about," Fonda said. "My favorite ex-husband [Ted Turner] owned New Line when that got done so I'm very excited."
Daniels said he's not entirely surprised that Fonda is a fan of the movie "because she has a great sense of humor [but] if you like Dumb and Dumber, you're out there and Jane is out there."
Perhaps they'll find a place for her in the sequel?
"She may have to sit on the toilet and do what I did, but if Jane's willing," Daniels said.
Um, maybe that's not such a good idea.
"I don't know if I'm needed," Fonda said. "With those two, they don't need me."
Especially if it involves a toilet.
