The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hasn't hit theaters yet—it arrives November 22—but the cast has already returned to set to start shooting the next installment, Mockingjay Part 1. Including new additions to Panem like Julianne Moore.
The Oscar nominee was snapped in full costume on the Atlanta, Ga. set. In the film she will play President Alma Coin. Everything after this is official SPOILER TERRITORY. You've been warned.
First, here's the photo:
President Coin is the calculating rebel leader of the previously undiscovered District 13. She saves Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) from the Catching Fire arena, only to go head-to-head with her later in the saga.
An acting showdown between Jennifer Lawrence and Julianne Moore is bound to be amazing and is enough for us to approve of this casting, sight unseen. But how does Moore look in the role?
Let's break it down:
In the book, Katniss describes Coin as having "gray hair that falls in an unbroken sheet to her shoulders...It's so uniform, so without a fall, a wisp, even a split end."
Check.
Coin's "eyes are gray...They're very pale, as if almost all the color has been sucked out of them. The color of slush that you wish would melt away."
Check.
Coin is "fifty or so."
Check (Julianne is 52).
District 13 citizens all wear government-issued clothes, consisting of "the same gray pants and shirt, the shirt tucked in at the waist."
Check.
A privileged few in Disctrict 13 wear communicuffs, like "an oversized watch" but used to transmit messages to people "important to the cause." Coin decides who is of that privileged few.
Check.
Everything checks out here. Move along. Back to bitching about Finnick.
