Despite the vast varieties of gowns and hairstyles at the 2013 Emmy Awards, there were quite a few similarities tonight—also known as red carpet trends.

One of the biggest? Emerald. Yes, there were a slew of green dresses but we're taking about the actually gem itself. Sofia Vergara, Christina Hendricks and Sarah Hyland were all dripping in supersize jewels featuring the precious stone.

Moving on to dresses, sheer bottoms seemed to come in second as most popular look behind full ball gown skirts. Julianne Hough, Lena Headey and Leslie Mann all played peek-a-boo with their lean legs. Hips also got special treatment as Amy Poehler and Anna Chlumsky wore gown with embellished pockets.

As for makeup, tomato red lips (close to the orange shade we predicted!) were the standout on Claire Danes, Christina Hendricks and Elizabeth Moss. Surprisingly beach waves took the place of retro ones as stars like Taylor Schilling, Rose Byrne (who also debuted a new blond look!) and Anna Chlumpsky opted for the more casual curls.
