It's officially Emmys week, which means Hollywood is buzzing with excitement in anticipation of the star-studded red carpet this Sunday.
And while most celebs are tirelessly working with a glam squad to ensure their gowns and accessories are positively perfect for the big day, others, like Alfre Woodard, are easing into awards season with a much more laid-back attitude.
E! News caught up with the actress at the press junket for 12 Years A Slave in New York City this week to see how she was preparing for her upcoming Emmys moment, and we were surprised to hear that she's barely had a second to think about it—and she's OK with that.
"I don't have a gown! I have been busy. I've been away from home since last July. I haven't even been in the country until this past week and I'm like, ‘What am I going to put on?'" she told us candidly with a shrug.
Eek! Sounds like a red carpet fashion nightmare to us, but for Woodard, it's simply a testament to her cool and collected spirit.
"That's what being a mature woman will do for you. You just stop and you keep your eyes on the prize and don't panic."
How inspiring! And while we completely commend her relaxed spirit about such a grandiose event, it probably doesn't hurt to be a celebrated star who is quite chummy with some pretty incredible fashion designers, too.
"Tadashi Shoji in his generosity said he would meet with me this week, so I am definitely wearing him, but who knows what it's going to be!" she laughed.
As for hair and makeup, Woodard is also planning on keeping it simple and styling herself.
"You know what, I feel like I'll just put on some eyelashes and lip gloss, because at the end of the day, I am an actor. I let the clothes horses and the actresses do it, but I think as an actor, we just do the best we can and go to be applauded."
We couldn't have said it better ourselves.
