Grace of Monaco Trailer: Nicole Kidman Does Her Best Grace Kelly Impression

Here is a subject of seriously royal import.

The first trailer for Grace of Monaco is out and finds Nicole Kidman playing Grace Kelly in a character study about the screen legend and Alfred Hitchcock muse after she abandoned her Hollywood career and became a princess.

Grace, directed by Olivier Dahan, chronicles Kelly's crisis of marriage and identity in the early '60s during a political dispute between her husband Prince Rainier III (Tim Roth) and French leader Charles De Gaulle that nearly saw France invade the principality.

The movie has come under criticism, however, from the elegant star's children, Prince Albert II, Princess Caroline, and Princess Stephanie, who, per the U.K. Telegraph, previously said their "numerous requests for changes" to the script were ignored and that "a series of scenes" in the flick were "purely fictional."

"The royal family wishes to stress that this film in no way constitutes a biopic," said a statement from the royal House of Grimaldi, which called it "needlessly glamorized" and filled with "major historical inaccuracies."

For her part, the 46-year-old Kidman told French newspaper Le Figaro back in December that Grace of Monaco "is not a biopic or a documentary…but only a small part of her life when she reveals her great humanity as her fears and weaknesses."

No doubt, the Aussie actress is going to give her good pal Naomi Watts a run for the money when it comes to portrayals of big-screen royalty. The latter, of course, toplines Diana, a biopic about the late Princess of Wales due out Nov. 1.

Grace of Monaco, which also stars Frank Langella, Parker Posey, Milo Ventimiglia and Derek Jacobi, hits theaters courtesy of Warner Bros. on Nov. 27.
