And you thought Miley Cyrus' VMA performance and wrecking-ball riding were controversial? Pshaw!

Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg is now coming forward to confess to E! News that he is actually the one who secretly helped Miley with her signature move. You guessed it, the almighty twerk.

"I used to be [Miley Cyrus]' twerkologist," Samberg tells E! News exclusively. "I've severed ties with her in that regard…I've kind of been aware of twerking a lot longer than the mainstream media quite frankly, and now it's getting drilled into the dirt now. It's a little bit boring for me."

Ah, jokes people. We love it.

Kidding aside, Samberg says the choice to have Miley Cyrus host SNL on Oct. 5 could not have been more expected—given her recent scandalous performance with Robin Thicke, and her new videos "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball" smashing video-view records—and he expects her to do well.

"It doesn't surprise me at all," Samberg says of Cyrus' return to SNL. "She's a friend of the show. I wish Miley nothing but the best. She was on SNL a couple of times when I was there and was very sweet and always very complemetary of stuff I have done, so I appreciate her."

And if the reports are true (a source tells E! News they are) that Lady Gaga also will host Saturday Night Live for the first time in the upcoming 39th season, Samberg firmly believes Mother Monster will blow us away.

"She'll kill it," Samberg tells me. "Gaga's the best, man. Obviously we did ‘Three-Way' with her, me and Justin [Timberlake]. She's a funny lady and I like that she is fearless. She was great at the VMA's, Gaga. I love that ‘Applause' song. I'm really into her music."

During Gaga's 2011 appearance, she acted alongside Timberlake and Samberg in a hilarious digital short featuring a follow-up song ("3-Way (The Golden Rule)") to their now infamous "D--k in a Box" skit. Samberg tells me he isn't aware of any plans to reunite. But we've got our fingers and toes crossed and meat dresses pressed for the occasion.

Samberg attended the Fox Fall Eco-Casino Party in Santa Monica on Monday to promote his amallsing new show Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which E! Online just named "the best new comedy of the season." The critical response so far has been overwhelmingly positive and Samberg admits, "I frankly was not expecting it to go so well. It's been really nice! For some reason I'm really checked out about stressing about it."

Nice.
