Vin Diesel is the king of the box office.
Riddick, which tells the story of an anti-hero deserted on a sun-scorched planet fighting for survival against alien predators, took the top spot at this weekend's box office, landing at No. 1 with $18.6 million.
Lee Daniels' drama The Butler, starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey, continued to fare well with moviegoers, coming in at No. 2 with 8.9 million. Rounding out the top 3 was Eugenio Derbez's dramedy Instructions Not Included, which earned $8.1 million and jumped two spots on the list from last weekend.
And the number one movie last week, One Direction's documentary This Is Us, slipped in the standings to No. 6, earning $4.1 million.
