Not Oprah! Morning News Show Hangs Up on Star During Phone Interview

Media mogul insists it wasn't her fault upon getting back on line after being disconnected

If there's one person you probably don't want to hang up on, it's Oprah Winfrey.

Unfortunately, that's just what happened to the WGN Morning News team in Chicago on Tuesday, Sept. 3, while chatting with the media mogul over the phone. As Winfrey was talking about upcoming programming on her OWN network, she was cut off mid-sentence when an automated voice came on and said "transfer" followed by a dial tone.

"This is so typical," WGN anchor Robin Baumgarten said in frustration to her colleagues. "We are such a pack of morons. How do we cut off the one guest we've had that people might be interested in watching?"

A moment later, though, Winfrey was back on the line, insisting it wasn't her fault.

"You all have a some kinks to work out," she said. "I'm just sitting here on the phone talking and all of a sudden music comes in and I'm like, 'OK, I guess that's my cue.' It's like you're standing at an award show and the music starts. Oh, OK, that's my cue to shut up."

Something tells us that won't happen again the next time Winfrey calls into their show. Assuming, of course, there is a next time.
