Michelle Pfeiffer is proving once again that age is just a number.

The stunning actress opened up to Ladies Home Journal revealing that she does not need to look "young anymore."

"Once you get over a certain hump there actually is less pressure," Pfeiffer said. "You can begin to look great for your age," she said.

    And that she does!

"I've moved over to that other side—I'm 55, which is a little too close to 60, but looking great for my age is okay now," she added.

In recent years, Pfeiffer cut back substantially from taking roles in order to spend more time with her husband, TV writer-producer David E. Kelley, and their children, Rose and John.

"I started putting caveats on everything—like I'll do a movie only at a certain time of year, or in a certain location—and I negotiated myself out of work," she said.

But now that both of her children are grown up and out of the nest, Pfeiffer is making her comeback to movie theaters, starring opposite Robert De Niro in The Family.  In the film, Pfeiffer plays the wife of a Brooklyn mobster (De Niro) and the family has to relocate to Normandy, France, under the witness protection program.

Over the years, Pfeiffer admits that she did always make healthy lifestyle choices and that she has come a long way from living on "on Marlboro Lights and Coca-Cola" her twenties.

But still, Pfeiffer says that watching her older self is not always easy.

"Having to watch yourself age on a giant movie screen is simply not natural," she said. " It can wreak havoc on your psyche."

Even acting legends like Pfeiffer have their doubts about themselves.

"I still think I'm going to be fired in the first week of every new job I take," Pfeiffer admitted.  "Always. In fact, before I even start a movie, I'll try to get myself fired or think of a reason I should quit. I guess it's fear of failure."
