Tim Tebow won't be rocking a New England Patriots jersey when the NFL's season kicks off.
The Patriots released the quarterback from the team Saturday, after just signing him to the squad in June, according to NFL.com.
This is the third team to cut the Heisman Trophy winner in 18 months, leading sports analysts to question whether he will be able return to the game at all.
Following the news, Tebow headed to Twitter to thank the Patriots organization for giving him a shot.
"I would like to thank Mr. Kraft, Coach Belichick, Coach McDaniels and the entire Patriots organization for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a classy organization," he tweeted Saturday.
"I pray for nothing but the best for you all. I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback for you, for power is perfected in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me."
Tim recently celebrated his 26th birthday.
It's safe to say this wasn't the gift he was looking for.
