Wendy Williams Reveals Lamar Odom Treated Her to a Shopping Trip: "I Know His Kindness and Share His Struggle"

Talk show host, who has talked about past trouble with drugs, tweets well-wishes to Lamar and Khloé following his DUI arrest

Wendy Williams says she understands what Lamar Odom is going through.

Following news that the basketball player had been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, the talk show host took to Twitter today to share a memory that she has of Khloé Kardashian Odom's hubby at his best and expressed hope that all will be well between the two.

"I met @RealLamarOdom one time, when my husband and I were shopping in LA. He was in the store too," Williams recalled.

"After he left, he called in his credit card to pay for our stuff. I only know his kindness and share his struggle w/substance abuse. My thoughts r with u both Lamar & @KhloeKardashian. xo ww."

Williams opened up last year on her show about her own personal battle with drugs while speaking about the death of Whitney Houston.

"It's been almost 15 years since I last smoked from a crack pipe," she said last February. "It's been almost 15 years since I waited on Jerome Avenue in the Bronx for my drugs. I'm not proud of the girl that I was, but without being that girl I wouldn't be the woman I am today."

Khloé has been a guest on The Wendy Williams Show twice, both times in 2009, once with Kourtney Kardashian and once with Kim, three months after she and Lamar tied the knot.

Odom was arrested at 3:54 a.m. during a traffic stop and booked on charges of DUI and refusing to take a chemical sobriety test. 

He was released from custody in Van Nuys, Calif., at 8:33 a.m.

A source told E! News today that Khloé and the rest of their family are urging Lamar to get into treatment, saying that they hope the bust would serve as a "wake-up call".
