The reason, of course, is her provocative, half-naked performance with Robin Thicke at Brooklyn's Barclay's Center on Sunday, Aug. 25. The Hannah Montana star took the stage before Justin got to perform his extended, multi-=song set, and according to 'N Sync's Chris Kirkpatrick, he was a tad upset when he saw his fellow Disney alum and her twerktastic moves.
"I think when we were watching [Miley's performance]—I saw Justin getting a little angry," Chris told Johnny's House, an Orlando radio show, on Monday, Aug. 26. "And when he gets angry, I said 'Uh-oh. That means we better be on point, because he's about to go out and kill it now.'"
And that's just what he—and the rest of 'N Sync—did. Even so, Chris, 41, wasn't a fan of Miley's overtly exerting her womanhood onstage. "You know, it was what it was. I don't get it," he said. "To me, it just seems like sometimes people think you have to out-weird people."
"That's not what it's about," he added. "You know, the kids wanna see you out there doing your songs and just being you—and I'm sure she's a great girl, but I was a little disappointed."
'N Sync's Lance Bass also spoke out against the 20-year-old pop star, saying on his Sirius XM show, Dirty Pop With Lance Bass, that he felt uncomfortable his nieces and nephews had been watching from the audience. "I didn't know I had to warn them that their little Hannah Montana was going to be naked and humping a finger," he said. "I think it's her thing…I think she shocked a lot of her younger fans, especially the parents, who might not be so happy with her thing, but she's just being Miley."
