The clock is ticking for the 'N Sync reunion.

The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards are just two days away, but the guys apparently don't have a definite plan yet, according to a source.

I'm told Justin Timberlake, J.C. Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick are currently in a New York City rehearsal space figuring out what to do.

Possibilities on the table include performing just one song, a medley or keeping it to a simple appearance on stage together, but with no singing.

News first broke of the boy band reunion earlier this week when the New York Post claimed the guys would reunite for a performance when Timberlake receives the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award during the big show at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

"They know the fans want to hear them sing their biggest hits," the source said. "But the worst case scenario is Justin getting his award with the other guys participating in the presentation in some way."

It was announced earlier today that Jimmy Fallon will present Timberlake with the award. "If MTV has to, they'll get the guys involved with that," the source said.

If the '90s hitmakers do take the stage, it will be one of the group's first reunions together since announcing their hiatus way back in 2002.

Bass has always expressed his desire to reunite one more time. "I love being on the stage," he told E! News back in 2010. "So yeah, anytime the guys would want to do an album, I'm in."

Bass realizes, however, that some members of the group simply don't have the time.

"Justin's very busy with his acting career right now so I think it's going to be quite a while before we even think about doing anything." Maybe the time is finally right!

Timberlake joins a star-studded lineup for this year's annual awards show.

Fans can look forward performances by Lady Gaga and Katy Perry as well as by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Robin Thicke, Kanye West, and the twerking queen herself, Miley Cyrus.
