The Moonmen are back and that can only mean one thing...the Video Music Awards are almost here!

MTV's annual award show heads to New York City this Sunday for a night filled with OMG moments and A-list performances.

Although there are occasionally jokes at our favorite star's expense, (where did you go Kevin Hart?) MTV promises plenty of stellar performances and a star-packed audience at the 2013 VMAs. Did you hear, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are sitting next to each other!

For those unsure if they should tune in this weekend, we have five reasons why you should watch the show live and save that new episode of Breaking Bad or the Real Housewives for later.

1. Justin Timberlake's Big Night: Yes, we know 'N Sync could be reuniting for the first time in almost nine years! But with nothing official from MTV and the boy band, we're trying not to get our hopes up for a "Bye, Bye, Bye" performance. In the meantime, we'll look forward to Justin Timberlake's moment when he accepts this year's Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.  Well deserved, J.T.

2. Lady Gaga's Opening Performance: We've seen the wacky music video and have analyzed the mysterious prosthetic arm. Now, it's time to see the Mother Monster perform "Applause" live for the very first time. As the opener for the show, we aren't exactly sure what to expect. However, knowing Gaga, it will be nothing short of spectacular.

3. Will Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Sweep?  With six nominations including Video of the Year and Best Hip Hop Video, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis lead the competition with six nominations (tied with Justin Timberlake). Will the "Thrift Shop" rappers score a majority of the Moonmen? Tune in to find out!

4. Twerk Alert! Miley Cyrus has been practicing with her twerk team (yes, it's a real thing) in anticipation for her Sunday performance. Will she pull out a unicorn onesie? Will blow-up dolls reappear onstage? Will Liam Hemsworth be in the audience to support her? So many questions, we can't stop thinking about it!

5. Divergent Sneak Peek: Shailene Woodley and Theo James will exclusively debut the official first look at their dystopian drama during the Video Music Awards preshow. As of now, we've only seen photos of the suspenseful film that takes place in a future world where people are divided based on personality. Can we please find out if Woodley's character is going to be OK?!
