Natalie Portman is no longer set to be shouting the famous line "Out, damned spot!" in the upcoming movie remake of William Shakespeare's Macbeth.

The 32-year-old actress has been replaced by another Oscar winner, Marion Cotillard, for the role of Lady Macbeth opposite Michael Fassbender in the lead role, Deadline reports.

It was first announced back in May that Portman would be taking on the heavy role of Lady Macbeth. The film is slated to go into pre-production by the end of the year.

The upcoming Macbeth adaptation will be directed by Justin Kurzel and produced by Iain Canning and Emile Sherman. And the play is certainly having a moment, both Ethan Hawke and Kenneth Branagh will be starring in New York City stage productions in the coming months, while Fassbender's X-Men costar James McAvoy recently played the role, even stopping the show (literally! twice!) during his version in the U.K.

Portman will next be seen in Thor: The Dark World alongside Chris Hemsworth. Cotiallard is currently filming the French click Two Days, One Night.
