It's not easy finding someone in Hollywood who knew Kerry Washington was dating her now husband, NFL star Nnamdi Asomugha.

But we finally did!

"I did know she was dating," Washington's Scandal costar Dan Bucatinsky told me at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Pre-Emmy Performers Peer Group reception. "I didn't know that they were going to get married, but all of us sort of hoped. We wish her the best always. She did it in the perfect way."

Washington and Asomugha seemed to have taken a page from Olivia Pope's handbook when it came to planning their undercover ceremony.

"I don't think that was necessarily planned but she ultimately learned something from Olivia," Bucatinsky said with a laugh, before adding, "I think she just wanted a little privacy."

E! News was the first to report that Washington and Asomugha got hitched on June 24 in Hailey, Idaho.

Washington's parents, Earl and Valerie, signed the certificate as witnesses, and the groom's sister, Chisaraokwu Asomugha—a minister in Silver Spring, Md.—officiated.

Bucatinsky said the first time he saw Washington after the nuptials was shortly after the Emmy nominations were announced.

"We ran into each other on the lot where we were both doing some reaction press, and she and I just hugged each other in the parking lot," he said. "I was so happy for her for the Emmy but mostly for her marriage. She so deserves that and she's really private in her personal life and I really respect that and there's no better person. She's one of my heroes."
