"Aaron Kamin wants to protect the brand 'The Calling' and also protect the group's fans, so they won't become disappointed if they come to concerts expecting to see a truly reunited version of 'The Calling' only to see Alex and his current group of backing musicians," the source says. "Aaron has reached out to Alex a number of times over the years to discuss a true reunion project but, so far, those discussions have not gotten any traction."

Just after The Calling reunited for the first time since their 2005 hiatus, one of their band members reported being abducted, beaten and robbed around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug.18, Lapeer City, Mich., police confirmed to E! News in a statement.
According to TMZ, singer Alex Band was the member of the group allegedly assaulted, although the police are declining to name which of The Calling's four members (Band, Aaron Kamin, Nate Wood and Billy Mohler) reported the incident.
Police did confirm that the victim "reported being forced into a blue colored minivan style vehicle between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. by two male subjects." The band member also reported "being assaulted, robbed, and dropped off on another street within the City of Lapeer." The report also stated the victim was transported to the local hospital emergency department by another band member." There, the victim was treated and released. The incident remains under investigation.
On Friday, Aug. 16, just two nights before the alleged attack, The Calling reunited onstage for the first time since their 2005 hiatus. Before Band and the group, best known for their 2001 hit "Wherever You Will Go," took the stage in Atlantic City, N.J., the musician tweeted, "Thankful to be back on stage doing what I love! First show back as #TheCalling tonight at @BallysAC! Doors at 8 show at 10! #AtlanticCity"
The group headed west to Lapeer, Mich., the following night to perform for a local music festival. As of Monday, Aug. 19, The Calling had yet to release an official statement on the alleged assault.
UPDATE: The Calling released an official statement confirming that Alex Band was the band member who reported being assaulted on Aug. 18, 2013. According to the statement, Band was beaten with a baton while a gun was pointed in his face and the assailants demanded he hand over his "Hollywood money."
Per the release, Band told his assailants, "Don't kill me as I am about to be a dad." The assailants proceeded to beat him, then said, "We don't kill fathers," before they "left him for dead at a local railroad track in Lapeer."
Band was left with a fractured lower spine, 15 stitches to his lower chin, three broken teeth, and a bruised side and stomach, according to the release. He said in a statement: "I never thought my unborn child would be my savior. I am grateful to be alive and I know that I am destined for bringing my music back to my fans."
He also refused rumors this incident was drug-related, saying, "I take my rehabilitation very seriously I was near death due to this unbelievable situation and the rumors are categorically false and not a hoax as reported."
