The Family Guy creator has been dating Pitch Perfect actress Alexis Knapp, whose voice could be heard on the "Valentine's Day in Quahog" episode of MacFarlane's hit show this past season.
"It's been going on for a little while. It's very casual but they are hanging out and he is having fun with her," a source exclusively tells E! News about the couple's burgeoning romance.
"They've know each other for three years and have been getting closer for over a year," but they've only recently started seeing each other more frequently, the source says. "They always had good chemistry."
"Alexis' star is on the rise," adds the insider. "He thinks she's really talented."
Before her break-out role in Pitch Perfect as Stacie, a highly sexual member of the Bellas, Knapp scored big-screen time in Couple's Retreat, Percy Jackson & the Olympiansn: Lightning Thief and Project X. She'll also appear in the pilot of Rebel Wilson's new sitcom, Super Fun Night, this fall.
However, another source close to MacFarlane downplays the relationship between the two, saying that reports of a hookup are untrue and that star has been extremely busy in production out of town. A rep for Knapp adds: "Alexis and Seth have been great friends for years and nothing more."
Knapp, 24, is also mom to 2-year-old daughter Kailani with ex-boyfriend Ryan Phillippe (another reason her name may sound especially familiar, even if you missed Pitch Perfect).
MacFarlane, 39, most recently dated Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, but they called it quits back in March.
