Jason Merritt/Getty ImagesKerry Washington may not be a teenager anymore but her stunning makeup made her the star of the 2013 Teen Choice Awards last night. Makeup Artist Carola Gonzalez created a "rock and roll glam" look for the Scandal star—pairing a subtle lavender eye with a bold red lip.
We also loved Kerry's sexy wispy hair—bangs casually swept to the side and loose sexy waves make this look red carpet ready. We would have created a total scandal on the red carpet if Kerry's bangs were even a smidge longer, daring to hide that beautiful eye makeup!
Get the Look: Before Gonzalez applied foundation to Ms. Washington, she started by using Armani Maestro Eraser Concealer in Shade 5 to highlight the area under the eyes, nose bridge, middle of forehead and chin to create dimension.
Gonzalez then applied Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in Shade 9 to Kerry's entire face. Tip: If your foundation looks too heavy or streaked, use a damp makeup sponge to blot and blend.
For her eyes, she used Lancome Color Design 5-Pan-Palette in Lavender Grace to create the lavender look. To recreate at home, start by covering your entire upper eye area with the cream-colored base eyeshadow.
Then apply the pale lavender eyeshadow on your eyelid, blending upwards towards your crease. Next, use the violet eyeshadow in your creases. Add definition with the violet eyeshadow by creating a V-shape with your outer crease and outer corner of your eyes. Blend like crazy. Use the highlighter eye shadow along your brow bones and at the inner corner of your eyes.
Next, apply the violet eyeshadow with a flat tipped eyeliner brush to the upper and lower lash lines. Complete the eyes by applying a volume-building mascara like Lancome Hypnose Star.
To create Kerry's fiery red statement lips, Gonzalez used Lancome Color Design Lipcolor in Red Haute. Tip: Make sure you start by exfoliating your lips with a sugar scrub or toothbrush before applying lipstick; otherwise you could end up with lumpy bumpy lips. Not pretty.
We're finding that Kerry Washington is just one of those starlets who can do no wrong on the red carpet. Whether her hair is pulled all the way back and she's rocking a coral lip or, like last night's look, she's all wispy bangs and red lips – she always seems to be one our favorites.
