Prince William and Kate Middleton Formally Register the Birth of Prince George

Document will be used to produce the royal baby's birth certificate

Prince William and Kate Middleton have now made the arrival of their son official.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have formally registered the birth of Prince George," read a statement issued by Kensington Palace on Friday. "The Duke of Cambridge signed the birth register at Kensington Palace this morning, witnessed by a Registrar from Westminster Register Office."

Prince George was born on July 22 at St. Mary's Hospital in London.

The register entry, from which the birth certificate is produced, not only gives the date and place of the little one's birth, but his full name as well—His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge.

William and Kate gave their occupations as prince and princess of the United Kingdom.

The couple's "usual address" was listed as Kensington Palace.
