ABC Family Renews Switched at Birth for Season 3, Orders More Twisted and The Fosters!

Are you ready for some exciting news ABC Family fans?!

We've been hoping that our favorite summer hits would be getting a chance to shine brighter, and now it looks like our wishes have been granted. ABC Family announced Tuesday that their hit drama, Switched at Birth, has been approved for a third season.

Adding to the good news, the millennial-favoring network is also giving back-order pickups to their two new summer sensations, The Fosters and Twisted. Michael Riley, President ABC Family revealed that after the summer finales, the three series will re-premiere alongside Pretty Little Liars in January 2014.

"ABC Family has always been a home for groundbreaking storytelling with iconic characters and families and we're thrilled to have The Fosters and Twisted join our line-up as breakout summer hits," said Riley. "We are very proud of the original series we continue to foster, bringing real and relatable characters to life for our viewers and know they are destined to become part of the zeitgeist alongside Switched at Birth and Pretty Little Liars."

Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Kate Juergens is equally proud of ABC Family's newest summer hits. "It's thrilling to count our two freshman series, The Fosters and Twisted among our stable of strong, must-see, must-tweet series," she said. Switched at Birth is like no other show on television and we are so proud to have it as part of our family."

Ratings-wise all three shows have been performing extremely well in these summer months.

The Fosters is summer's No. 1 new cable TV series in viewers 12-34 with an average of 1.3 million viewers. Following close behind, Twisted is the second most popular new cable TV series and has snagged the number one scripted cable spot the with adults 18-34. And Switched at Birth continues to bring in a strong crowd on Monday nights with an average of 2.4 million viewers each week.

This news follows comedy pick-ups that were announced earlier this year including a fourth season of Melissa and Joey and a third season of Baby Daddy. Yup, it's good to be an ABC Family fan right now!
