Scarlett Johansson sparked all kinds of engagement rumors when she stepped out some diamond ring on that finger Wednesday in L.A.
But the 28-year-old actress "is not engaged nor close to being engaged" to French journalist boyfriend Roman Dauriac, her rep told People.
So what's the real story behind Scarlett's new bling? According to a source, the Avengers star received the gold ring, complete with two stones—a diamond and a ruby, as a recent gift, but it's "simply a piece of jewelry."
This isn't the first time Ms. Johansson has worn a regular ring on what is typically a woman's engagement finger. In February she was spotted hand in hand with Romain wearing a pear-cut diamond—yes, on that finger—for no special reason at all.
Scarlett and Romain went public with their relationship in November 2012. She dated advertising exec Nate Naylor for about a year, calling it quits in October 2012, and was married to Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011.
But she's in no rush to walk down the aisle again. In an interview with Elle U.K. earlier this year, the blond beauty said she "never" thinks about marriage. "It's really not important to me," she added. "The only time I ever think about it is when people ask me, 'Would I get married again?' "
"I'm not having kids anytime soon," she continued. "I'm in a nice relationship, I'm working a lot and, like I said, it's not important to me."
