Yesterday was National Hot Dog Day (which has nothing to do with Anthony Weiner's sexting-related press conference). To celebrate, one restaurant created the Twilly, which found a new way to repurpose the recently resurrected Twinkie.
Pittsburgh Willy's, a gourmet hot dog eatery located not in Pennsylvania but in Chandler, Ariz., served up this concoction for only day only. The Twilly's name combines the words "Twinkie" and "Billy Willy," Willy's signature hot dog.
The Twilly was only available yesterday on Hot Dog Day (for $2.50), but you can easily recreate it at home.
The recipe:
1 six-inch Hebrew National all-beef hot dog
1 Twinkie "bun"
Cover with bacon bits
Douse in peanut butter
"I had a number of customers try it, and they all loved it," Randy Walters, the owner of Pittsburg Willy's has said. "It's really tasty."
