It takes a village—to announce the birth of Kate Middleton and Prince William's baby boy.

There was a very elaborate and careful plan that took place to share the exciting news earlier today, and that procedure introduced the world to a number of unfamiliar faces who had a special part in delivering the birth announcement.

So who are these people? Here's a who's who guide to all those who had a role in the royal birth.

1. The Doctors: One of the biggest roles played in this event was done by Dr. Marcus Setchell (left), Queen Elizabeth II's former gynecologist, who delivered the Prince of Cambridge, and Dr. Alan Farthing (right), the queen's current gynecologist and surgeon.

2. The Official Spokesperson: You may remember a rather chipper young gentleman in a suit, who carried the leather folder with the documents containing details of the couple's first child's birth.

That is Ed Perkins, press secretary to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who delivered the bulletin from the hospital to Buckingham Palace.

3. The Senior Page: Amidst the high-energy anticipation, the leather folder was handed off to Philip Rhodes, Queen Elizabeth II's senior page, who took the announcement up the stairs of Buckingham Palace for delivery to the Queen.

But what makes him even more memorable is the smirk he quickly gave cameras while performing his duties. Werk.

4. The Easel Duo: A lady and gentleman appeared from the inside of Buckingham Palace to perform one of the most prestigous tasks of the day.

Ailsa Anderson, the queen's press secretary, and Badar Azim, a footman, placed the official birth announcement on the famous easel (which was also used when Prince William's birth was announced) for the public.

5. The "Town Crier": One of the most memorable appearances during today's festivities was the entertaining man dressed in full costume, yelling the birth announcement to the crowd.

The "self-proclaimed town crier," Tony Appleton, was not part of the royal team, but made the public believe he was while doing his thing in front of the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's hospital.

6. The Personal Secretaries: Let's not forget those behind the scenes.

Although they may not have been active in the actual announcement today, Middleton's personal secretary Rebecca Deacon and William's personal secretary Miguel Head have been extremely helpful during the entire pregnancy.

Deacon has reportedly become a "central figure" in the duchess' life since she began working for Kate in 2010, and Head is considered Wills' right-hand man.
