It's time to hang up the ballet shoes, folks!
ABC Family has officially canceled Bunheads after one season, E! News has confirmed.
"Bunheads is a wonderful series that we are very proud to have aired. The series had amazing storytelling, the most talented cast and a passionate and loyal fan base," ABC Family said in a statement. "Recognizing all of this, we took extra time to try and find ways to bring the series back for another season, but in the end it simply wasn't possible. We wish the cast and crew the best in their future endeavors."
The series, which came from Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, starred Sutton Foster as a Las Vegas showgirl who moves to moves to a small town and becomes a ballet teacher alongside her mother-in-law, who was played by Kelly Bishop.
While Bunheads series premiere brought in a healthy 1.65 million viewers, the season one finale dropped to around 1 million viewers.
Bunheads isn't the only series to get the ax from ABC Family: The network canceled The Lying Game after two seasons last week, with star Alexandra Chando breaking the news to fans via Instagram. "To our awesome #lyinggame fans, thank you for these two amazing seasons," she wrote. "Unfortunately, ABC Family has decided not to bring us back for a third season. We so wanted to do 10 more for you guys! Thanks for your support and keep up with the cast to see what's next for us!"
