May the royal baby boy born Monday to Kate Middleton and Prince William have an easier go than his predecessor.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's infant son is the first Prince of Cambridge to be born to the royal family in 194 years—and the one who came before had quite the scandalous-for-his-time story.

Prince George of Cambridge—a grandson of King George III and the only son of Prince Adolphus Frederick, the first Duke of Cambridge—was born in 1819 and became the second Duke of Cambridge (meaning Prince George had titles belonging to both Prince William and now Will's son) upon Adolphus' death.

Refusing an arranged marriage, Prince George wed actress Sarah Louisa Fairbrother, known as a classic beauty and a fine dancer, for love in 1847 when she was pregnant with their third child together.

Don't pop a monocle now...

The marriage was never royally recognized, however, because George didn't seek sovereign approval, so their children were not eligible to inherit royal titles—and Fairbrother was never given one, either.

She became known as Mrs. FitzGeorge instead, and that was the surname used by their children together, George, Adolphus and Augustus. Sarah had two children before marrying Prince George, as well. (There goes the other monocle...)

Prince George of Cambridge, who also kept a mistress, Louisa Beauclerk, for 30 years, served in the Crimean War with the British Army and served as Commander-in-Chief of the Forces from 1856 to 1895.

He died in 1904 and a statue of him on a horse stands in the middle of Whitehall in London.

Lucky for Prince George, he missed the Twitter era.

The brand-spankin'-new Prince of Cambridge, meanwhile, was born today at 4:24 p.m. (British Summer Time), weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces.

Buckingham Palace, which was totally onboard with this royal union and subsequent heir production, said in a statement: "The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are delighted at the news."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at St. Mary's Hospital in London at around 6 a.m., after which Kate's labor was said to have been progressing normally.
