In the wake of Cory Monteith's death, Glee's Harry Shum shared his thoughts for the first time about his late co-star.
"This is how I remember him. Kindhearted. Incredibly funny. Extremely passionate," Shum posted on Instagram Friday, along with a photo collage of Monteith smiling, playing drums and messing around with a co-star's hair.
Monteith was found dead Saturday in his room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver after he missed his checkout time.
A coroner later reported Tuesday that the 31-year-old actor died of an overdose, with heroin and alcohol among the substances found in his system.
"This was an overdose and a tragic accident," Vancouver Police Department spokesman Brian Montague said at a press conference following the release of the autopsy results.
Monteith had talked candidly in the past about his ongoing battle with substance abuse, telling Parade, "I'm lucky to be alive. I had a serious problem."
A source told E! News Monteith, who recently spent about a month in rehab, was "super committed to getting sober," adding, "He would say this was his last chance."
