Olivia Palermo: Is That a White Button Down Shirt Transformed Into a Cocktail Dress?

We're stumped by the design of The City star's little white dress

We've heard about crafty types who fashion women's dresses out of a man's shirt, we just didn't think Olivia Palermo was the DIY type.

And yet this white mini certainly looks like it was made out of a white buttondown, no? See how the gathering at the front looks like re-constructed shirt sleeves? And that fabric is definitely Brooks Brothers grade cotton.

But in the event this dress is actually a dress and not a former shirt, we kind of like it! The simple neckline is balanced well with the layers of fabric at the middle, plus that bold, tribal-themed necklace really stands out against the white.

So either this Manhattan fashion icon is a secret designer or she just has good enough taste to pull off a totally unique design.
