In her song "Hair" off of her Born This Way album, Lady Gaga proudly sings "I am my hair" over and over again.

So, we're guessing the singer may be feeling a little less like herself lately, seeing as she just shaved part of her identity-boosting hair!

The 27-year-old recently debuted her bold shaved 'do when heading into a Los Angeles studio. Foregoing the wigs and hairpieces that she's fond of, Mother Monster pulled her brown locks up in a loose top knot to reveal a buzzed portion at the back of head.

Also missing was one of the pop star's trademark attention-grabbing outfits, like the racy bra-and-miniskirt combo she sported on the streets of New York just a few days ago. Instead, she went for a more casual look, covering up in a conservative blue blazer that she paired with basic black bottoms.

Of course, she still managed to reach for her signature sky-high heels, rocking a pair of height-boosting booties that required her to have a helping hand from a handler as she carefully descended a set of stairs in her fierce footwear.

This isn't the first time Lady Gaga has shaved a part of her mane. Back in September 2012, she buzzed the hair at the nape of her neck in memory of fashion photographer and friend Terry Richardson's mother.

"I did it for u Terry. I'm sorry about ure mommy. She has princess die, but were all princess high," she tweeted along with a close-up of her bald patch.

The singer recently shut down her Twitter account, so we haven't received a clue as to why she underwent her more recent transformation. According to the Huffington Post, Lady Gaga deleted all her tweets since February 6.

Her more than 39 million followers are now greeted with the message, "This interface has been shutdown temporarily. Please check back for updates."

But perhaps Lady Gaga will return to the networking site—and continue to fill us in on the details of her grooming choices and much more—once her highly anticipated album ARTPOP is released come November 11.

After all, the artist's new app, which is also called ARTPOP and slated to debut on the same date, is billed as a means to bring art to the masses by "altering the human experience with social media," according to a release.
