FOXSo there's letting someone down easily, and then there's the Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell way.
An X Factor source tells us exclusively that Lovato and Cowell got some serious jabs in during the Denver auditions when a Miami native showed up to sing (and apparently butcher) Rihanna's hit single " Only Girl (in the World)".
The contestant appeared before the judging panel (which now includes newbies Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio), in a skintight black dress and clutching her iPhone. Why did she need the iPhone? To read the lyrics of the song she was auditioning with, natch.
Regardless of whether she needed Google to tell her how the song goes, she did not perform well for the judges, and Cowell let her know it.
"You remind me of when I am outside a night club in Vegas at 5 a.m. and there are drunk girls leaving the club singing," he told the girl. "It sounded a lot like that."
Lovato laughed and added: "I agree with Simon, actually. I feel like you're kind of the reason I don't drink anymore."
Tough crowd! The X Factor's new season is set to premiere Sept. 11 on Fox.
